What is Every Parent's Dream?

Every Parent's Dream was developed to help parents find sources of funding to pay all or part of their children’s college education. In today's economic situation, the need to find extra money for college is more acute than ever.

How it started

As a result of the economic crisis, I found myself with a lot of time and very little money. My daughter was going into her senior year of high school, and a sense of panic and despair was starting to take hold.

After many months, and countless hours of research on the Internet and elsewhere, I found different sources of money for her college education in the form of federal grants, scholarships, and more.

The result was that my daughter's first year of college came to a cost of $18,000 and – most importantly – at no cost to me. And that's when I decided to use my research experience to aid others in their search for financial assistance.

I am not going to promise you that I can get your child into college for free. Anyone who claims that they can is foolish.

What I can do is provide you with an action plan that will save you a lot of time, and the tools to find money that is out there for college.

Is it going to be easy? No, but I can make it less overwhelming. It will take work, and I will be right there with you to answer your questions and make suggestions.

As parents, our #1 goal is to ensure that our children get every chance to have a better life than we had. I did it for my daughter, and I know I can help you too.

How it works

Before I can help you, I need your help. Let's begin with some very basic information from you and your student:

• College choice(s)
• Career choice(s)
• Minority status
• Financial limitations

I will then use this information to customize an action plan for your student that includes the following:

Timelines

• Colleges and universities each have their own application periods for scholarships. Depending on the school, you will know exactly when to apply.
• Pell grants and other forms of federal aid are great, but government programs also have different application periods and procedures. I will let you know when to apply for these grants and in what order to apply.
• There are hundreds of scholarships available through other institutions, businesses, and private charitable groups. Based on your profile, I will provide you with a list of these opportunities, along with application procedures and important dates to consider.

Special scholarship considerations

• Essays are often the key to receiving scholarships, and the subject and length of each essay will vary. I will show your student how to write what the scholarship donors want to see when they evaluate your essay. While this can be the hardest part of your scholarship search, it does not need to be.
• Community and civic involvement

Suggestions and hints

• As I mentioned previously, there are hundreds of scholarships available from many different sources. Your customized plan will not send you on a wild goose chase and waste your valuable time.
• Everybody is looking for that full-ride scholarship, but unless your student is being recruited for a sports-related activity, full scholarships are very hard to get. Of course, I will provide you with a list of these scholarships as they apply to your student.
• I will also point you to smaller scholarships, which are usually easier to get than the “big ticket” ones. But, what if you can get 10 or more $500 scholarships? They can reduce your out of pocket costs considerably, and any type of scholarship will help your student.
• Remember that when it comes to scholarships, you have to be ready to "think outside of the box.”

"When our daughter was approaching her high school graduation, we had no idea how we were going to afford college. Every Parent's Dream can help take the mystery out of your search for college tuition assistance."
